Some Basic Information of The Ghost Inside

Before I state my favorite favorite song produced by The Ghost Inside, I think it would be a great idea to give you some basic information about the band. The Ghost Inside is from Los Angeles, California, and the band was formed in 2004. Their original band name was A Dying Dream. Their music genre is categorized as either metal-core, or melodic hardcore, and they have produced 5 albums. 

Best Song = "White Light"

In my opinion, The Ghost Inside's best song they have constructed so far has to be "White Light".
 "White Light" is a song about the lead vocalist's (Jonathan Vigil) little brother, Ryan, who passed on in his sleep. No one has any answers as to why this occurrence took place. Back before the band officially titled this song, they played a show, which included this song. After Jonathan finished performing the song that is obviously now called "White Light", he checked his phone, only to see that he received a text from his friend. It was a picture that consisted of the sunset over a beach with a mysterious white light randomly floating about. You're probably questioning why this is in any way a significant reason as to why the band named the song "White Light", and why I'm even explaining this at all, but this is my blog, so I get to explain whatever I want. Well, some lyrics in the song are, 'I am so lost at sea, Ryan shine your light for me." Coincidence or not, this is the reason why the band decided to name the song "White Light". In my opinion, this song is one of the most heart-wrenching, meaningful songs I have ever listened to, which is the main reason why I enjoy the song so much. Not only are the lyrics sad, you can also hear the sorrow in the instruments. I find myself tearing up whenever I hear this song. As a matter of fact, Jonathan has actually broken down into tears whilst performing this song. He couldn't continue playing, so some fans got up onto the stage and started singing for him while giving him hugs and stuff.
"White Light" is so much better than songs with crappy lyrics about someone who broke up with a girl or boy they've only been with for like a month, because it is about real love that is irreplaceable. Also because death tends to be more tragic than a breakup... Aside from all of that, these are some of my favorite lyrics from "White Light":

The Worst and Best From Impending Doom

First of all, Impending Doom was formed in 2005, and they originated in Riverside, California. So far they have released 6 albums (The Sin and Doom of Godless Men, Nailed. Dead. Risen., The Serpent Servant, There Will Be Violence, Baptized In Filth, and Death Will Reign). Their current band members are Brook Reeves, Manny Contreras, Eric Correa, David Sittig, Brandon Trahan.

The Worst Album From Impending Doom

In my opinion, their first album was the worst (The Sin and Doom of Godless Men). Well, just like almost every other band, of course the first album is going to be the worst... Unless if we're talking about The Devil Wears Prada... Anyway, you're probably wondering why I think The Sin and Doom of Godless Men is Impending Doom's worst album. Well, all of their songs on that album kind of sound the same. It's not like those songs that sound relatively close aren't good or anything, but they definitely didn't use their creativity they possess back then to its full extent. All of the songs are extremely heavy, kind of bland, and dull. You can't understand what the vocalist is saying, regardless if you've read the lyrics over and over again, which kind of irritates me, even though I'm not the biggest fan of their lyrics considering I'm not religious. All in all, the album sounds just a wee bit too "muddy" as I like to call it. 

Another reason why The Sin and Doom of Godless Men is their worst album yet is because the music is hardly intriguing. You can't sit down and listen to the first minute of a song off of that album and crave to listen to more of it, which is honestly quite a shame (this pretty much goes along with what I said in the first paragraph). Not to mention the lyrics aren't the most ingenious words you'll ever hear... For example: "Last breath on Earth, to first breath in hell, last breath on Earth, to first breath in hell". As I've stated, this is only my opinion, because all of their songs are about their religion. The difference between the lyrics from this album compared to the rest is these lyrics are cringe-worthy because they're so dull, and I'm not dissing on the lyrics because they're religious. 

The final reason why I believe The Sin and Doom of Godless Men is Impending Doom's least favorable album is because Brook Reeves vocals just don't sound quite right... Reeves does this kind of squeal sound that doesn't sound nice at all. You're probably thinking that I'm crazy for thinking that just his squeals don't sound nice and that none of his screams sound decent, but oh well. His pitch hardly ever changes in this album either, which doesn't really help them out with their lack of creativity predicament. 

Although I think this is their least enjoyable album, I still like it. The best part of the album are the drums...

In my opinion, Impending Doom's best album is Baptized in Filth. This album was released in 2012, and was their 5th album they created, which is far more better than The Sin and Doom of Godless Men. Why? Well, 7 years later, after they progressed as a band, they got more creative with their instrumental/vocal usage. Crazy, right? I mean who would've thought in a million years that a band would become greater as the years pass? If you couldn't tell, that was total sarcasm...

I feel like this album is their most creative one. Brook Reeves vocals are a lot more diverse, and not just the monotone growling with occasional awkward squealing thrown in at random moments you'll perceive after listening to The Sin and Doom of Godless Men, and Nailed. Dead. Risen. He actually changes the pitch of his vocals in this album. I personally also enjoy the lyrics off of this album the most out of all of their albums, because they're more aggressive, which is what I like. The lyrics are still religious, but they are bearable. I like to think of myself as quite the opened-minded human being because of this, but that's not what this blog's about... Anyway, not only are the vocals/lyrics amazing in this album, the instrument utilization is also pleasing to the ears. All of the instruments are played together well, and they don't sound muddy while all being played at once. There's also more of a chorus that occurs in this album, which I enjoy, just like the average human being.

"Deceiver" off of Baptized in Filth  

In spite of the fact that I have talked some crap about Impending Doom on this blog post, they are still one of my favorite bands of all time, and everything they've produced/will produce is better than anything One Direction has constructed.
