Suicide Silence/Suicide Silence EP

Suicide Silence is a deathcore band from Riverside, California. The band was created in 2002, consisting of Chris Garza, Rick Ash (both guitarists), Josh Goddard (drummer), Mike Bodkins (bassist), Mitch Lucker, and Tanner Womack (both vocalists). After their very first performance as a band, they kicked out Tanner Womack, leaving Mitch to be the only vocalist. And no, I do not know why they kicked him from the band. For the first couple of years they only made demos, not albums, until 2005, which is when they created their first EP called Suicide Silence EP. I know what you're thinking... What a clever and creative name for an EP!

No Time To Bleed

Remember that thing called MySpace? You know, the ancient website all the cool cats used as if it were apart of their daily ritual? Yeah, that's the website Suicide Silence partook on. They kept everyone updated on their once new album titled No Time To Bleed before it was released. Mitch Lucker appeared in an interview talking about their upcoming album. Lucker stated how No Time To Bleed was going to "blow away" The Cleansing. Did he lie to us? In my opinion, which is also the opinion of many Suicide Silence fans, he didn't. No Time To Bleed was formally released to the public in 2009. In April of that same year, Suicide Silence received the Revolver Golden God award for "Most Innovative Band", and performed live at the awards show. *Note: The Cleansing is an album from Suicide Silence that was released before No Time To Bleed.

The Black Crown

In 2011, Suicide Silence started working on their third full-length album. Before officially naming the album, ideas for album names were "Cancerous Skies", "F**k Everything", and "Human Violence". Later on Mitch Lucker announced that the album title, as you have probably noticed due to the heading, is The Black Crown. Unlike their lyrics to The Cleansing, the lyrics to the songs of The Black Crown were more about Lucker's personal life topics, so the album is pretty much a better version of No Time To Bleed.

On November 1, 2012, Mitch Lucker was pronounced dead at 6:17 a.m. On the night of October 31, 2012, Mitch got on his motorcycle and accidentally crashed. The next morning, the band posted on their Facebook page about Lucker's death saying, "There's no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts. R.I.P. Mitchell Adam Lucker - We Love You Brother." Mitch left his band, left his wife, and left his daughter, Kenadee, who was only 5 when he passed on. Mitch was, from what I have seen and heard, one of the most down to earth people one could even imagine. He was and still is such an inspiring person to not only me, but to millions of others out there.

Their notorious song "You Only Live Once"

You Can't Stop Me

Almost a year after Mitch Lucker's death, everyone was positive Suicide Silence was done producing music, until they announced something... The band released another video of their song "You Only Live Once", but something was a little different... They had a new vocalist. His name is Eddie Hermida. It was confirmed on October 3, 2013, that Hermida was officially the new vocalist for Suicide Silence. Before Hermida joined Suicide Silence, he was in a band called "All Shall Perish". In the previous years, Suicide Silence toured with All Shall Perish, so it wasn't like Eddie entered the band as a stranger. With a new vocalist, together the band made an album called You Can't Stop Me, which was taken from the title of a song Mitch Lucker wrote before his death. They released the album in 2014.

My Personal Thoughts

In my opinion, Suicide Silence was and still is one of the greatest bands out there. Their music has gotten me through some difficult times, and they still do. A lot of people think their music sounds "muddy, bland, and not creative", but all I hear when I put on a CD from them is the true beauty of different instruments combined to create an amazing sound that I personally fancy. Not to mention it also calms me down, as ridiculous as you may think it seems.
My favorite song lyrics are (may be offensive):
"We'll finally be set free, just be glad you know what life is. Be glad you know." -Suicide Silence, The Fallen
"I once thought that I had found the path. For so long, I believed in all your bullshit. I once thought that I had found the path ’till the day when I needed you…" -Suicide Silence, The Fallen
"I can’t believe they have wasted so much time in prayer. So many years and words have been wasted. False hope and the addiction to searching." -Suicide Silence, The Fallen

  1. Really good job on this, I have to say though I find it difficult to read the fonts, and they seem to change font size alot, cant tell whether its random, or has a purpose to it.
